The Brazilian Army, through the Northern Military Command (CMN), received between May 15 and 19 a delegation from the United States Army for another stage of preparation for Operation CORE 23 (Combined Operation and Rotation Exercise).
The combined exercise with the US Army will be carried out for the first time in the Amazonian territory between October and November.
On this occasion, the group checked the health and welfare of the troops participating in the exercise.
The objective was to evaluate the existing conditions related to the structure, equipment, supplies, and procedures.
In addition, the inspection aims to comply with current health legislation, seeking the food safety of the troops, as well as the best use of the Union’s resources.
Among the activities carried out, they visited the facilities of the military organizations, which have a supply sector.
In Belém (capital of Pará state), the structures of the 2nd Jungle Infantry Battalion (2nd BIS) and the 2nd Supply Company of the 8th Supply Depot (2nd Co. of the 8th D SUP) were evaluated.
The group then headed to the garrisons of Macapá and Oiapoque (state of Amapá) to recognize the facilities of the Special Frontier Company (CEF) of Clevelândia do Norte and the 34th Jungle Infantry Battalion (34th BIS).
The delegation’s agenda also included visiting the Cellier food factory in São Paulo.
Along with the American Army delegation, military personnel from the Brazilian Army Logistic Command (Colog) and the 8th Military Region (8th RM) also participated in the inspection.
Operation CORE 23 will bring together military personnel from the Brazilian Army and the US Army for combined training in the garrisons of Belém, Macapá, Oiapoque, and the district of Clevelândia do Norte.
Troops from both countries will share experiences and exchange knowledge on defense doctrine and techniques, tactics, and procedures, to maintain historical ties between the countries and increase integration and cooperation between the two armies.
