Lula thinks Zelensky “can’t have everything he wants”

The president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, has pointed out that, even though Russia “cannot keep” all the territory gained in Ukraine, it is likely that it will keep the government over Crimea, while in Kyiv they have to admit that ” they cannot have everything they want”.

According to Lula, Russian President Vladimir Putin has to assume that “he cannot keep the land in Ukraine”.

“Maybe Crimea will not be discussed, but we will have to rethink what he invaded afterward,” said the Brazilian president, according to the news portal G1.

Regarding the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, Lula considers that he has to realize that “he cannot have everything he thinks he is going to have.”

He also stressed that the Atlantic Alliance “will not be able to settle on the border” with Russia.

“This is an issue we have on the table,” said the Brazilian president, who will travel to China next Tuesday to discuss the situation in Ukraine with his peer Xi Jinping, among other issues.

Xi and Lula must sign agreements, including a joint proposal for the war’s end.

Brasília and Beijing have sometimes been equidistant on the hostilities in Eastern Europe and have been accused of siding with Russia.

Beijing already made a peace proposal last February.

However, it was rejected by a large part of the international community as it pointed to a cessation of hostilities in the current positions, thus legitimizing the presence of Russian troops on Ukrainian territory.

Brazil has also shown a willingness to row in favor of peace in Ukraine.

However, its proposal has always been aimed at establishing a path of dialogue with the parties to the conflict and involving countries outside the hostilities.
