Expo-industry back in Angola, three years later

The 5th edition of the expo-industry started this Wednesday (29) in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Luanda-Bengo, with 238 exhibitors’ participation in an initiative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized by Eventos Arena.

The fair is a privileged space for the Angolan industry to show the world what it has available and the areas in which investors can take advantage with the entry of more resources for partnerships and new businesses.

President of the Republic of Angola João Lourenço, who honored the inauguration of the fair, highlighted that the current context of the Angolan manufacturing industry offers “many challenges, opportunities, and constraints, at a time when the country marks quite expressive steps of opening to the outside”, looking for ways to diversify the economy, through the diversification of imports and the promotion of exports.

“Despite the Covi-19 constraint, the national manufacturing industry has shown to be quite resilient.”

“The National Institute of Statistics highlights the positive variation in the food industry, particularly in cereal milling and starch manufacturing, beverage production, and tobacco processing,” the head of state stressed.

Minister of Industry and Commerce, Victor Fernandes, stressed that work is being done so that the agro-industry allows the country’s food self-sufficiency.

“The Executive is committed to creating more and more conditions so that the entrepreneurs can install processing plants that operate regularly to increase the levels of national production and supply the market needs,” he stated.

In turn, the president of the Arena group, Bruno Albernaz, said that the fair, which had been suspended since 2019, has ever since been registering “exponential growth,” something that is expected to be maintained in this edition, taking into account the growing industrialization of the country.

“The expectation is for a 20% growth compared to the last edition,” said Bruno Albernaz.

Participation in the 5th edition of Expo-Indústria, which runs until Saturday, April 1, has a minimum cost for each exhibitor of US$625 for a nine-square-meter stand, with a 20% discount for companies from outside Luanda.

The objective of the fair is to make industries increase employment and improve the living conditions of the population, as well as leverage new partnerships and businesses.
