Bolivia: new altercations between “Evistas” and “Arcistas”

Bolivian congressman Rolando Cuellar called on Wednesday for the social organizations that operate within the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) to withdraw their support to former president Evo Morales, with a view to his disincorporation from the ruling party.

Cuellar, one of the leaders of the so-called “renovating block” of MAS, expresses a tendency in the party that has shown affinity with the current president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, to the detriment of another sector is loyal to Morales.

The internal struggles between the “Evista” and “Arcista” sectors have been going on for almost a year in the country.

The declarations of the parliamentarian take place in the context of the celebration of a new anniversary, the 28th, of the creation of the Movement Towards Socialism.

Last weekend both Arce and Morales were visiting the department of Santa Cruz, where new movement authorities were to be elected.

During the event, there were altercations and beatings between supporters of both leaders, which eventually led to the annulment of the internal process.
