Embraer seeks to add India to the KC-390 customer base

The Brazilian firm Embraer is participating in the new edition of the Aero India fair, taking place in Bangalore from February 13 to 17, where it is promoting its product portfolio and, especially, the features and capabilities of its KC-390 Millennium strategic airlifter.

“India is a key market for Embraer, and we look forward to establishing partnerships in the country that can further boost India’s defense industries and capabilities. We look forward to engaging with India’s aerospace and defense ecosystem at this event,” said Bosco da Costa Junior, president, and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security.

Currently, unsurprisingly, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) is the institution with the largest fleet of these transport aircraft, with a total of five units and plans to operate up to 19 aircraft.

Since its incorporation in 2019, the KC-390 has demonstrated its capability, reliability, and performance in various FAB missions, accumulating more than 7,500 flight hours.

Embraer has orders for the KC-390 from Portugal and Hungary, both NATO member states.

The Netherlands, another member state of the Atlantic Alliance, also selected the KC-390 in 2022.

FEATURES

The KC-390 is the most modern next-generation military tactical transport aircraft, and its multi-mission platform offers an unbeatable combination of low operating costs and rapid response.

The aircraft can carry more cargo (26 tons) than other mid-size military cargo aircraft and flies faster (470 knots) and farther on a standard crew service day.

Embraer’s aircraft can perform a wide range of missions using the same platform, including air-to-air (in-flight) refueling (AAR) for fixed and rotary wing aircraft, air operations, troop and cargo transport, humanitarian missions, medical evacuation, firefighting, and search and rescue, with simple and quick reconfiguration between different configurations using state-of-the-art conversion kits and built-in reconfigurable cargo floor systems.

The aircraft was designed to operate on semi-prepared or damaged runways and in hostile environments, ranging from hot and humid to cold and dry conditions.
