Paraguay plans green hydrogen plant with Canadian support

Paraguay will build a green hydrogen production plant in the department of Alto Paraná in the east of the country with the support of Canadian company Neogreen Hydrogen.

The electricity company of the landlocked South American country and the Canadian company signed an agreement on Tuesday (31) to provide 75 megawatts (MW) of electricity for the first phase of the project and another 225 MW in the second phase.

The plant will operate as an alternative to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and provide clean energy for local industry.

If the feasibility study is positive, Neogreen Hydrogen will work on a much more ambitious project focused on the large-scale production of green hydrogen.

Construction of the plant will create up to 3,000 jobs at its peak and about 7,000 indirect jobs.
