The businesswoman Tereza Barroso, wife of Justice Luís Roberto Barroso of the Supreme Court (STF), passed away this Friday, Jan. 13.
Tereza, 57, died of complications from a “primary cancer in the head of the femur”. She leaves two children, Luana van Brussel Barroso and Bernardo van Brussel Barroso.
“Discreet, but very dear, she preserved her good humor until the last moment of lucidity,” the STF said in a statement. “The family – Luís Roberto, Luna, and Bernardo – is serene and comforted. Tereza lived a good and happy life.”
Tereza’s wake and burial will not be disclosed to preserve the family.
The Union’s attorney general, Jorge Messias, sent a statement lamenting Tereza’s death.
“With great regret, I have just received the news of the death, on this date, of Mrs. Tereza Cristina van Brussel Barroso, wife of the minister of the Federal Supreme Court Luís Roberto Barroso. On behalf of the General Advocacy of the Union (AGU) members, I express our deep and respectful feelings to the family members.”
