Rio de Janeiro reinforces policing in Copacabana, but does not record protests

This Wednesday, the 11th, policing was reinforced on the seafront of Copacabana, in Rio de Janeiro, after threats of new demonstrations against the Lula da Silva (PT) government, in the wake of the invasions and depredations promoted in Brasilia last Sunday, the 8th.

The act, which was scheduled to take place at night, in front of “Posto 5”, did not take place.

From early on, agents and members of the Military Police’s cavalry intensely reinforced patrolling in the region in the perspective of the demonstration taking place.

Despite the presence of few demonstrators, as the protest did not actually materialize, the troops were promptly demobilized.

Hours before the act, the Justice of the Federal Supreme Court, Alexandre de Moraes, prohibited the blocking of public roads and highways and the invasion of public buildings throughout the national territory.

By order of Governor Cláudio Castro (PL), policing remains reinforced in some facilities and public buildings, especially in the vicinity of the Duque de Caxias Refinery (Reduc), where the shock battalion and an elite military police troop will remain for undetermined time.
