Brazilian airline Azul was named today as the world’s most punctual airline in 2022, with 88.93 percent of its flights arriving on schedule, according to the ranking prepared by Cirium, a company that analyzes aviation data worldwide.
The ranking, released Tuesday, has Japanese airlines ANA (All Nippon Airways) and Japan Airlines in second and third place.
Latam appears in fourth place, with an 86.31 percent on-time performance.
The ten most punctual airlines list includes Delta, Avianca, Emirates, United, Qatar, and American Airlines.
Cirium considers punctuality to be the percentage of flights whose aircraft arrive at the destination airport’s gate within 15 minutes of the scheduled time.
The consultant named winners by world region: Delta (North America), Azul (Latin America), Iberia (Europe), Oman Air (Africa and Middle East) and Thai AirAsia (Asia-Pacific).
The regional lists also include smaller companies that were not included in the global ranking.
The study also lists ten airports with the most punctual departures. The champion was Haneda, Japan, with 90.33 percent on-time departures.
The top ten airports include Kempegowda, India, in second place, and five U.S. airports – Salt Lake City, Detroit, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, and Charlotte.
Bogota, Colombia, is ranked 9th, with 80.72 percent accuracy.
