Brazilian future Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, announced, this Friday (30), the names of those chosen to preside over state-owned bank Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF) and Banco do Brasil (BB).
Caixa will be headed by Rita Serrano, and Banco do Brasil will be headed by Tarciana Medeiros.
Both are career employees of banking institutions. Rita has worked at Caixa for 33 years, and Tarciana has worked at Banco do Brasil for 22 years.
“They talked a lot with the president, they talked to me, and they are aligned with President Lula da Silva‘s government plan, they know the challenges, Brazil’s credit ratio, which is very challenging, and they are very excited,” said Haddad.
The president-elect, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), had already announced on Thursday (29) that the presidencies of the two banks would be held by women.
