For the year, the Forbes list of global billionaires lost 12 members. In Brazil, there are 41 names in all.
The year 2022 was not easy for Brazilians. This includes billionaires. Although these people are thought to rise above crises, many of them have not managed to keep their fortunes intact. The year, which started with 53 Brazilian members on the Forbes real-time billionaires list, is ending with just 41.
Of the businessmen who still managed to remain in the ranking, only 14 registered an increase in their wealth in the accumulated result for the year. Among them, the highlight was Maurizio Billi, the 65-year-old president of Eurofarma, who increased his fortune from US$1.4 billion (R$7.4 billion) to US$2.7 billion (R$14. 4 billion), growth of 92.9%.
Son of the founder of Eurofarma, Billi is at the head of the third largest pharmaceutical company in Brazil. Since 2009, the company has expanded across Latin America after purchasing manufacturing units and is now present in all 20 Latin American countries. During the pandemic, Eurofarma was responsible for producing vaccines against Covid-19 with Pfizer technology.
The second billionaire who earned the most in 2022 was the 68-year-old mega-investor Lírio Parisotto. His fortune appreciated 53.5% in the year, rising from US$1.5 billion (R$7.9 billion) to US$2.3 billion (R$12.1 billion). In addition to being known as one of the biggest investors in the country, Parisotto also founded Videolar in 1973.
Luciano Hang, owner of the chain of department stores Havan, was the third businessman on the list who earned the most in the last twelve months. With more than 100 physical stores across the country, Hang had a growth of 51.6% in the period, going from US$3.1 billion (R$16.4 billion) to US$4.7 billion (R$24. 9 billion).
