Cape Verde receives first desalination equipment and solar plants

Last weekend, the Government of Cape Verde received the first desalination equipment and solar plants to be installed in Achada Baleia and Baía, where it is expected to produce 1,100 m3 of water per day.

Within the scope of the water mobilization project for agriculture, a multidisciplinary team (ADR and ELETRA) is in Hungary, headed by the president of Empresa Água de Rega, Ângela Moreno, to reinforce the technical cooperation of that programme.

According to a statement published on the Government of Cape Verde website, the objective of the mission is to verify and validate the equipment that will be sent to the country, prepare civil, hydraulic and hydro-agricultural engineering projects.

As part of this mission, the Cape Verdean delegation held several meetings with strategic partners, accompanied by VTK, the contracting agency on the Hungarian side.

The president of Empresa Água de Rega, Ângela Moreno, said that the mission “was successful”, in that, she guarantees, “all parties are motivated and ready to effectively implement this which is considered a program of excellence for more and better availability of water for the development of agriculture in Cape Verde”.
