Hobbit houses from The Lord of the Rings can be rented on Airbnb

Hobbiton, the scenic city of “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” sagas in New Zealand, will now welcome guests. The news was announced by the booking platform Airbnb this Tuesday (6), which will make available the rental of the characters’ corners to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the movie “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”.

Accommodations in Middle-earth until then only received visitors, revealed owner and host Russell Alexander. This is the first time fans will be able to sleep in and experience life as Bilbo Baggins.

The place was created with inspiration in the descriptions made by the author of the books “The Lord of the Rings”, J.R.R. Tolkien and enchanted director Peter Jackson on a visit in 1998 — who decided that he would recreate the author’s universe there in theaters.

Three two-night stays for up to four guests (per booking) will be available — for the price of NZ$10 per night — between March 2nd and 4th, March 9th and 11th, and March 16th and 18th. March 2023. Two bedrooms will feature a queen size bed, and the other two will have king mattresses for singles.

During their stay in Hobbiton, travelers will have access to the county that served as the setting for the films, with its 44 Hobbit holes, the themed house “The Millhouse”, the bar “The Green Dragon”, among other points seen on screens. The accommodations will have a cozy atmosphere curated by the creative director of the trilogies, Brian Massey.

Must-see rooms include Bilbo Baggins’ writing nook at The Millhouse and access to a personal Hobbit Hole. Part of the program is an evening dinner at Dragão Verde with a feast of beef stew, whole roast chickens, freshly baked bread and lots of beer, as well as Second Breakfast and Snacks at Eleven, served daily.

Guests will also enjoy a private behind-the-scenes tour of the set in New Zealand’s Waikato region, on a 2,500-acre farm.

GUARANTEEING THE RESERVATION

The platform will start accepting reservations from interested parties on Wednesday, December 14, from 6 pm (Brasília time) on the Airbnb website. You have to be agile, because vacancies should run out quickly.

To request the reservation, you must have a verified profile on Airbnb, a history of positive reviews and be over 18 years old. Unfortunately, the platform will not release reservations for travelers living in Brazil, only abroad.

They will be responsible for paying for the trip to and from Auckland, New Zealand, where the car that will take the travelers to Hobbiton will depart – a two-hour journey between the airport and the set.

If there are problems with the reservation due to New Zealand policies to combat covid-19, the platform is committed to refunding the reservation fee and offering a credit of US$1,000 for another stay through Airbnb.
