Federal Police arrests Brazilian businessman who called hunters, shooters and firearms colletors for demonstrations

The Federal Police arrested on Tuesday night (Dec. 6) the businessman Milton Baldin in front of the Army Headquarters, an area in the Urban Military Sector in Brasilia (DF), where demonstrators remain camped to protest against rigged elections.

The action happened after an order was issued by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

In his decision, Moraes states that the businessman instigated “armed groups to protest in the federal capital,” which Baldin’s defense contests.

Baldin was sent to the Federal Police superintendence in Brasilia.

In November, a video of Baldin calling on hunters, shooters, and firearms collectors (CACs) to participate in protests against President-elect Lula (PT, progressive-globalist) was widely circulated on social networks.

“I also wanted to ask the CACs, the shooters who have legal guns. Today, we are, including me, 900,000 shooters. Come here and show presence for us,” the businessman says in the recording.

CACs rarely have the right to carry a weapon – that is, Baldin’s call was for them to participate in the demonstrations, not to be armed.

In theory, the right of CACs to demonstrate is guaranteed in subsection XVI of Article 5 of the Constitution, which assures that “everyone may assemble peacefully, without weapons, in places open to the public, regardless of authorization, as long as they do not frustrate another meeting previously convened in the same place.
