Government of Brazil’s Paraná state signs contract for construction of Guaratuba Bridge

The contract between the government of Paraná and the Nova Ponte Consortium, the bidding winner for the construction of the Guaratuba Bridge on the State’s coast, was signed on Monday (Dec. 5).

The bridge that is to link the municipalities of Guaratuba and Matinhos on the coast of Paraná will be 1,244 meters long and have a section of the cable-stayed structure, according to the construction notice.

The next step is the issuance of the Service Order. From then on, the deadline of 32 months will start to count for the delivery of the work, which includes the bridge and its accesses.

The Nova Ponte Consortium competed with six other bidders and won with an offer of R$386.9 (US$72) million for the execution of the work.

Two other bidders had offered lower prices but were disqualified for not fulfilling all the requirements of the bid notice.

The budget estimated by the state government reached R$450 million but was kept secret until the bidding was held so as not to influence the proposals.

The following companies are part of the winning consortium: Construtora Oeci S.A. (from Almirante Tamandaré), Carioca Christian-Nielsen Engenharia S.A. (from São Paulo), and Goetze Lobato Engenharia S.A. (based in Cidade Industrial de Curitiba).
