Haddad consolidates as Lula da Silva’s possible Finance Minister

The name of Fernando Haddad (PT, left), the former Minister of Education, is the most quoted candidate to assume the Ministry of Finance in the government of President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

Poder360 found out that the PT president has signaled to the transition team his willingness to work with the former president of the Central Bank, Persio Arida.

The idea is to form a kind of “double team” ahead of the Economy, with Haddad at the Treasury and Arida at the Planning Ministry.

André Esteves, the owner of BTG, told transition members last Wednesday (Nov. 23), that “half” of Faria Lima would already be pacified if the former mayor of São Paulo is the nominee.

Another name quoted by the PT for the Treasury is the president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto.

He will participate in the meeting of Esfera Brasil in Guarujá (SP), which will be held from Nov. 25th to 27th.

The event will be attended by leftist leaders, such as the president of the acronym, Gleisi Hoffmann.

Senator Jaques Wagner (PT) said on Thursday (Nov. 24) that the definition of the Minister of Finance would facilitate the negotiations of the PEC.

He will meet with Lula on Friday (Nov. 25) in São Paulo to present the scenario for negotiating the proposal.
