Confusion in celebration of Flamengo in downtown Rio has more than 30 injured

A party of Rio’s soccer club Flamengo fans in downtown Rio ended in confusion early on Sunday afternoon, November 13.

The riots began around 1 PM, and a generalized fight took over Presidente Antônio Carlos street. According to the Municipal Health Secretariat, “approximately 30 people were admitted to the unit’s emergency room with various injuries due to the event.”

State Police officers fired moral effect bombs during the riot to disperse the fans. In a statement, the State Police reported that “five police officers were injured.” The Municipal Guard said that an officer also suffered “a cut on the hand caused by a glass bottle.”

TWO MEN WERE ARRESTED

In a statement, the State Police said that state police officers from the Shock Police Battalion (BPChq), Specialized Stadium Police Battalion (BEPE), and Special Rounds and Crowd Control Battalion (RECOM) had to contain disturbances among Flamengo fans during the celebration in the central region of Rio de Janeiro.

Images from social networks caught several intruders entering electrical and electronics stores in the Uruguaiana area after the party.

In the videos, it is possible to see that the suspects take blenders, speakers, and even air conditioners.

On Twitter, the Military Police informed that “policemen from the 5th BPM (Praça da Harmonia) and Centro Presente arrested the criminals who stole from a commercial establishment in Uruguaiana (Downtown), this Sunday afternoon.

The products were recovered during the joint action. The case is in progress at the 5th Police Station.

In a statement, Americanas reported that “the store was closed at the time of the action, and the alarm went off as soon as the invasion happened. The police were called, and the company is still surveying the damage and contributing to the investigations.”

Ponto Frio said, “the incident that occurred in the Uruguaiana store had no victims.” The company is providing all information to the competent authorities.

TITLE CELEBRATIONS

Flamengo fans filled downtown Rio’s streets to celebrate the Libertadores Cup’s tri-championship and the Brazil Cup’s fourth championship.

The player Gabigol was one of those who spoke in the sound car and was cheered by the crowd of fans. The players also showed off the cups they won in 2022.
