“The PL will not give up its flags and ideas. It will be opposition to the future president,” Da Costa Neto told the press, alluding to the elected president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who defeated the former military officer in the second round of voting on Oct. 30.
He reaffirmed, “Bolsonaro is our captain; we will follow him wherever he goes.”

He also commented that his party would not recognize the referendum’s result until the Armed Forces oversight report is disclosed, scheduled to be delivered today by the Ministry of Defense to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
He insisted that the PL asks the TSE questions but still has no intention of entering with actions questioning the results at the polls.
The leader of the PL also announced the support that he articulates for the maintenance of Arthur Lira in command of the Chamber of Deputies.
For Senator Randolfe Rodrigues, Da Costa Neto’s statement about not recognizing the elective result “is appalling” and a “coup speech.”
“The only certainty we have is that there will be the inauguration of the elected president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva,” the parliamentarian stressed.
According to the Workers’ Party president, Gleisi Hoffmann, the speech of the head of the PL “is absurd.”
“They participated in the game of the process, did they submit to the polls, and now they want to question the result? That for me only has one name, coup attempt,” she warned.
On the day, Hoffmann also called for a firm response from the institutions in the country to acts by Bolsonaro supporters, dissatisfied with the result of the plebiscite.
The followers of the former Army captain also request military intervention.
“It is not normal for people to be in front of the barracks raising the tone. Institutions have to take a firm look and not let the movement spread,” the congresswoman told reporters after talking with the helmsman of the Brazilian Democratic Movement, Ballena Rossi.
She also announced that she will hold a meeting this week with the allied parties to discuss the political situation in the South American giant and that the Armed Forces and the Judiciary can hear the organizations.
“The parties can give a tough response, and position themselves as an institution,” stressed the PT leader, who assessed that the TSE was firm in the voting process.
And now, she said, she hopes that the Judiciary will be “very firm” with the demonstrations described by the president of the TSE, Alexander de Moraes, as anti-democratic.
