Brazilian tourism posts best result in six years in August

Brazilian tourism recorded its best result in six years in August 2022, with sales of R$17.6 (US$3.3) billion nationwide.

“Now, after the pandemic, the resumption of tourism is already a reality.”

“We have business, cultural, religious, and pure beach and fishing tourism here. From north to south, from east to west, we take care of what tourists are looking for,” Tourism Minister Carlos Brito said Wednesday (26) in an interview on the program A Voz do Brasil.

As part of the program, the minister stressed that the government has been working to strengthen the country’s tourism infrastructure throughout the pandemic period.

“There were more than 2.9 thousand projects in which about R$2 billion (US$380 million) was invested, so now, after the pandemic, our sector was alive and present to participate in this very important moment of resumption of tourism,” he said.

According to Carlos Brito, nature tourism and Brazil is particularly important in this segment.

The government expects the country to receive 4 million foreign tourists from January to December 2022.

In addition, the work of the brochure was used to increase domestic tourism.

The minister also pointed out that this year’s cruise season is expected to be the largest in the last decade.

“We are talking about the prospect of injecting about R$4 billion into the economy and creating about 44,000 direct and indirect jobs,” the minister said.

According to Brito, each tourist who leaves the ship leaves behind an average of R$650 per day.
