Haiti acquires armored vehicles and equipment for its police force from Canada

The Haitian National Police acquired security equipment from the Canadian Armed Forces, including tactical and unspecified armored vehicles.

The equipment arrived in Port-au-Prince aboard Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft of the U.S. Air Force and the Royal Canadian Air Force, in a combined operation between the two air forces, at the request of the Haitian government.

“This equipment will assist the Haitian National Police in their fight against criminal actors who are fomenting violence and disrupting the flow of urgently needed humanitarian assistance, hampering efforts to stop the spread of cholera,” the U.S. Southern Command (U.S. SouthernCommand) said in a statement.
