Six people charred to death after crash on Brazilian highway

According to a highway patrol spokesman, six people, including a three-year-old boy, were charred to death Sunday when two vehicles collided on a highway in the interior of São Paulo state in southeastern Brazil.

The deceased belonged to the same family, a spokesman told GloboNews.

The accident occurred on the SP-344 state highway near the town of Sao Joao de Boa Vista in the interior of São Paulo state.

According to witnesses, a van traveling in the same direction struck the rear of the car where the family was traveling.

After the impact, the VW Parati went out of control for about 200 meters, went off the road, and burst into flames.

Among the victims were a three-year-old child and a teenager, according to police.

The van driver was taken to the central hospital of Sao Joao de Boa Vista, where he was held on the orders of police authorities.
