Vehicle production in Brazil rose 19.3% in September

Brazil’s vehicle production reached 207,800 units in September, up 19.3% compared to the same month in 2021, the sector’s employers’ association reported Friday.

According to data from the National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea), cumulative production in the first nine months of the year reached 1.75 million vehicles, up 6.3% compared to the same period last year.

However, according to the statement released, there was a 12.7% reduction in automotive production between August and September of this year.

According to the president of Anfavea, Márcio de Lima Leite, quoted in the statement, September is a month that “historically does not repeat the good numbers of August”, which has more days and fewer holidays.

“But I would like to highlight the continuous evolution of the daily average of sales since January, with 9,200 registrations per working day, which is the best year result,” highlighted De Lima.

Registrations reached 1.5 million between January and September, down 4.7% compared to last year’s period.

In September, 194,000 vehicles were registered, up 25.1% compared to the same month of 2021 and 7.0% lower than last August’s figure.

With 363,500 vehicles shipped abroad, exports increased by 31.2% between January and September compared to the first nine months of last year.

Anfavea indicated that 28,500 units were exported in September, up 20.7% compared to the ninth month of 2021 but down 39% compared to August of this year.

In the ninth month, said the employers’ association, exports fell due to “the restrictions imposed by Argentina, the exhaustion of the exemption quota for the Colombian market, and logistical problems”.
