Inflation in Paraguay was -0.1 % in September

Inflation in Paraguay receded last September when it stood at -0.1%, a result lower than the 1% registered in the same month of 2021, revealed on Tuesday, October 4.

With this result, accumulated inflation reached 7.1%, compared to 4.6% in the same period last year, the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) said in a statement.

According to the official report, inter-annual inflation (September 2021-September 2022) totaled 9.3%, up from 6.4% in September last year.

With this result, accumulated inflation reached 7.1%, compared to 4.6% in the same period last year.

The result of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) last month was attributed, according to the BCP, to the reduction in food, fuel, and electricity prices.

Specifically, the cost of products such as yogurt, cheese, and eggs fell, while beef and its substitutes (pork, poultry, and fish) increased.

The prices of services such as clothing, vehicle maintenance, and food and beverages consumed outside the home also rose.

The Government of Paraguay foresees a gross domestic product growth of around 4.5% and inflation of around 4.1% for next year, according to forecasts included in the budget for 2023.
