Exports from Portuguese-speaking countries to Macau rise 36.2%

According to official figures released on September 29, exports of goods from Portuguese-speaking countries to Macau in the first eight months of the year rose 36.2% compared to the same period of 2021.

The value exported by Portuguese-speaking countries to the Chinese special administrative region between January and August was MOP 620 million (US$76.8 million), according to a statement from the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC).

Meanwhile, the amount of goods imported from Macau by the Portuguese-speaking bloc fell 70.1% year on year, amounting to MOP 1 million.

In the first eight months of this year, Macau posted a trade deficit of MOP 80.8 billion or MOP 11.3 billion less than the same period of the previous year, the DSEC added.
