Air fares in Brazil increased by 36.4% from January to July

Air ticket prices on domestic flights increased cumulatively by 36.4% from January to July 2022, reaching an average price of R$606.42 (US$122).

The data comes from Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency).

In the Southeast, the busiest part of the country, the average ticket price was R$592, ranging from R$426.68 to R$682.93.

The increase in tickets is due to the rise in the dollar and fuel.

In August, Anac data show that domestic and international air traffic has not yet reached 2019, the last year before the pandemic.

Compared to August 2019, demand for domestic flights decreased by 1.3% and the supply of seats decreased by 0.1%. The aircraft load factor was 81.4%, a decrease of 1.2%.

The cargo volume transported between Brazilian airports was also 2.6% lower than in August 2019.

In international air transport, the most affected part of the sector, the figures for the 8th month of this year show a 25.2% lower demand than in August 2021 and a 26.3% lower supply of seats.

ENTERPRISES

Among the companies that transported the most in August, Latam continues to lead.

Its share of the domestic market is 40%. Gol and Azul follow with a share of 30.9% and 28.7%, respectively.
