South Korea’s Second Vice Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy, Park Il-jun, has met in the capital of the Asian country, Seoul, with the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining of Uruguay, Omar Ignacio Paganini Herrera.
The South Korean ministry announced they discussed ways to expand cooperation in the new energy industry sector between the two countries.
One of the highlights of the meeting was “an agreement to collaborate in establishing a stable, clean hydrogen supply network by combining South Korea’s hydrogen mobility technologies with the clean hydrogen production capacity of Uruguay, whose renewable energy production accounts for nearly 80% of the country’s total energy production,” according to a statement from the official South Korean news agency.
It is also noted that both parties agreed to expand cooperation in using renewable energy and promoting automobiles that are not powered by fossil fuel combustion.
According to the agency, “the South Korean government expressed its hope that South Korean companies can contribute to promoting the production and use of green energy in the Latin American country, through their advanced technologies related to solar and wind energy and electric vehicles and car batteries”.
