At least nine people were killed in a collapse at a container company in the city of Itapecerica da Serra in Greater São Paulo (southeastern Brazil) on the morning of September 20, local media reported.
According to the fire department, reported by the portal G1, there were “six dead and 31 injured.”
A total of 64 company employees were attending a meeting in a company auditorium when the mezzanine floor collapsed.
Local authorities mobilized more than 15 vehicles, as well as rescue units and civil defense teams.
Deputy state candidate Jones Donizzete and deputy federal candidate Ely Santos were visiting the company at the time of the collapse and were trapped in the rubble but were rescued alive.
