Paraguay and the United Arab Emirates strengthen relations

Mario Abdo Benítez, president of Paraguay, received Saqr Ghobash, president of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates (FNC), for the strengthening of relations between the two friendly countries.

As reported on Monday by the official news agency of the Emirates, WAM, during the meeting, Ghobash transmitted greetings from the President of the UAE His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and First UAE minister and ruler of Dubai, to President Benítez.

For his part, Benitez extended his greetings to the Emirati president and vice president and highlighted potential opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in various fields. In addition, Benítez welcomed the visit of Ghobash and his delegation and underlined the importance for him of mutual ties. He also highlighted the key role of parliaments in strengthening relations between the two countries and praised the UAE’s support for Paraguay’s medical sector during the pandemic.

At the meeting, which was attended by Saeed Abdullah Saif Al Qamzi, the UAE’s non-resident ambassador to Paraguay, the two sides also discussed regional and international issues and stressed the importance of achieving global achievements in peace, security and stability. Ghobash said that the Emirates, under the leadership of its president, wishes to strengthen its relations with all countries on the basis of mutual respect.

Ghobash highlighted the progress of bilateral ties between the Emirates and Paraguay, especially after Benítez’s visit to the UAE in March 2022 and his meetings with the Emirati president and the ruler of Dubai.

The meeting was attended by a delegation from the FNC that included members of the Friendship Committee of the Emirati-Latin American and North American Parliaments.
