Itaipu Paraguay seeks to manufacture photovoltaic and storage equipment

It is a Technical Cooperation Agreement and an Institutional Cooperation Agreement, which, according to a press release, will develop “joint academic, scientific, technological, social and environmental actions”.

The Technical Cooperation Agreement aims to develop solutions or equipment that use photovoltaic energy sources for manufacturing at the national level.

In this field, FPTI-PY will provide the design and development through joint experiments that, among others, will work on applied research lines on the development of BMS (Battery Monitoring Systems), as well as a compact generation system with battery, inverter, and protections in a single package with power between 3 to 5 kW.

The commitment of Heliotec, a Paraguayan company dedicated to the manufacture of solar systems and which has announced that it will also manufacture batteries, will be to provide equipment and devices for these tests.

In this sense, the executive director of the FPTI-PY, José Bogarín, stated that “the dream is that all the components of solar engineering and electric mobility are developed in Paraguay, such as batteries of different ranges, solar panels, and their floating versions”.

An analysis of the market, identification of productive clusters, the linkage with universities, and the empowerment of emerging companies in the sector, are some of the elements mentioned by Bogarín as necessary to be developed.
