Brazil: Rock in Rio generated an impact of US$324 million for the city

The seven days of Rock in Rio 2022 generated an impact of R$1.7 billion (US$324 million) for the city, according to an estimate by the organizers.

The 1,255 artists, 300 shows, and 507 hours of experience also created 28,000 direct jobs and attracted 360,000 tourists, including 10,000 foreigners from 31 countries.

These visitors represented about 60% of the 700,000 fans.

With so many tourists, the impact on the city’s hotel industry was also positive.

On the festival’s first weekend, the average occupancy rate was 77.74%, with Barra and São Conrado standing out.

In the second week, occupancy rose to 83.61%, with Ipanema and Leblon in the lead.

STARS IN RIO

Highlights of the last day of Rock in Rio, Dua Lipa and Rita Ora praised the city after visiting tourist attractions.

Images on social networks show Dua walking up the Escadaria Selarón, between the neighborhoods of Santa Teresa and Lapa.

On her Instagram, Rita Ora shared images of walks she took while visiting Christ the Redeemer and the Santa Teresa neighborhood.

“Rio! The day has come! I can’t wait to introduce myself to you tonight. See you guys later. What a beautiful country you have,” she wrote.
