Venezuela seeks key energy alliances with Iran

Venezuelan Oil Minister Tareck El Aissami reported that the Venezuelan oil, gas, and petrochemical industries are currently forging strategic production alliances with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Speaking on state television at the Iran-Venezuela 2022 Science, Technology and Industry Fair, the head of the Petroleum Ministry stressed that both countries “have a productive vocation in the energy sector.”

El Aissami explained that one of the issues being developed for the conclusion of agreements with the Iranian energy sector is creating a production line for catalysts that serve as inputs for the Venezuelan oil industry.

He stressed that this is “one of the most important tasks, one of the central issues for the value chain of our hydrocarbons.”

In addition, the minister pointed out that during the business rounds held in Caracas, “a great potential for the development of rotating equipment, equipment for drilling fields, and equipment for the development of the gas chain” was identified.

He asserted that the agreements sought with Iran focus on “important areas that will give great capacity and potential to the Venezuelan energy industry.”

Earlier, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro instructed to “join the powerful Iranian gas and petrochemical oil industry because Iran has become an energy power with its technology and capital despite the persecution of imperialism.”
