Venezuela invites investors to develop more than 50 gas projects “at the highest level”

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said Wednesday night that his country’s doors are open to investors worldwide to develop more than 50 gas projects to supply the world market.

“Venezuela has a portfolio of more than 50 first-class gas projects for which seismic surveys have been carried out and which offer all the legal guarantees for international investors,” Maduro said on Venezuelan state television.

“The idea of inviting foreign investors to develop these projects is “that they come to produce gas in Venezuela and then bring the gas to international markets,” he explained.

Following the official celebrations of the 62nd anniversary of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Maduro celebrated the first official visit of OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al-Ghais in Caracas.

“OPEC is a great work of Venezuelans and the wise of the world. We must celebrate the 62nd anniversary of OPEC with our brothers in OPEC+ and, as we have discussed, consider the expansion of OPEC+ in the coming years,” the president said.

The Venezuelan vision for the oil-producing countries in OPEC+, he said, is for the organization to move toward “consolidation” and “expansion,” “to take the reins of the oil market with determination, autonomy, and independence.”
