GOL records increase in seat supply and demand for flights in August

Airline GOL airlines on Monday (5) released its August 2022 traffic figures, which continue to show growth in line with the recovery of the aviation sector.

The supply of seats per kilometer flown (ASK) increased by 43.9% compared to the same period last year, while the total number of seats increased by 41.4%.

The number of take-offs increased by 44.9% during this period. Revenue per passenger kilometer (RPK) increased by 31.7%, and the load factor was 81.5% (1.3 percentage points higher than in Aug. 2021).

GOL’s domestic supply increased by 29.7%, while demand (RPK) increased by 31.7%. The domestic occupancy rate was 81.4% (1.2 percentage points higher than a year ago).

The number of departures increased by 39.1%, and the total number of seats by 36.1%.

In the international market, supply (ASK) was 323 million, demand (RPK) 266 million, and occupancy rate 82.3%.

According to the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC), between January and December, 2019, Gol had 37.7% of the domestic and 3.8% of the international market shares in terms of passengers per kilometer flown, making it the largest domestic and third largest international airline in Brazil

Gol competes in Brazil and other South American countries, primarily with LATAM Brasil and Azul. It also owns the brand Varig, although now that name refers to what is informally known as the “new” Varig, founded in 2006, not the extinct “old” Varig airline, founded in 1927.
