Bolsonaro leads in three of Brazil’s five regions – survey

A survey released Thursday (Aug. 25) by the AtlasIntel Institute, commissioned by consulting firm Arko Advice, shows that President Jair Bolsonaro leads in voting intentions for the presidency of the republic in the Midwest, Southeast, and South.

In contrast, Lula da Silva is in the lead in the Northeast and North of the country.

In the southeast, conservative Bolsonaro has a slight lead over the PT, (left) candidate, with 42.7% of the vote. Lula da Silva has 40%. Ciro Gomes (PDT) has 6.7% and Simone Tebet (MDB) has 6.2%.

In the Midwest, the President’s lead is 3.3 percentage points: 45.9% vs. 42.6%. Ciro has 4.9%, while Simone Tebet has 3.5%.

Among voters in the South, Bolsonaro has 47.5%, versus 39.8% for Lula da Silva. Ciro has received 5.3% of intentions and Simone Tebet 1.8%.

Lula da Silva’s lead in the polls at the national level is reflected by the large gap with Bolsonaro in the Northeast and North.

Lula received 60.6% of the vote in the northeast, while Bolsonaro received only 25.1%. Ceará native Ciro Gomes had only 7.2% of the electoral intentions. Simone received only 1.1%.

In the north, the PT candidate appeared with 50.7% of the vote, while Bolsonaro received 36.7%. Ciro appeared with 5.8% and Simone Tebet with 1.8%.
