Mexico’s López Obrador proposes five-year global truce to end all wars and tensions

The Mexican head of government made this proposal during his usual morning conference when he commented on the tensions created by the visit to Taiwan of Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

In this context, López Obrador reiterated Mexico’s pacifist position and recalled that the country has always advocated resolving conflicts through agreements.

The Mexican president added that the truce he proposed would include trade wars since both the conflict in Ukraine and the tensions in Taiwan have affected the world economy, which is already struggling with inflation problems, since “the world is already globalized in economic and trade terms.”

“What do we need to do? We must care for the poor and seek cooperation among nations and peoples for development. No provocations, no wars. We don’t want hegemonies. It is not too much to ask the U.S., Russia, and China to accept this proposal,” López Obrador said.
