Bolivia invoices US$1.4 billion for gas exports to Brazil and Argentina

From January to June this year, the country invoiced US$1.4 billion for the export of natural gas to the markets of Brazil and Argentina, which means 34% more than in the same period of 2021, highlighted Bolivia’s president, Luis Arce.

“As of the first half of 2022, the country invoiced US$1.4 billion for the sale of natural gas to the markets of Brazil and Argentina, which is 34% more than in the same period of 2021. It is the result of sovereignty over our resources,” the president published on Wednesday, July 27, on his Facebook account.

At the end of 2021, Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) Head Office and nine subsidiaries generated net profits of BOB 1.3 billion (US$190 million), despite the post-pandemic crisis, informed on Sunday, the executive president of the state-owned oil company, Armin Dorgathen.

“With great satisfaction, we can say that despite the post-pandemic crisis, YPFB generates net profits, resources that are reinvested in the productive chain of the hydrocarbons sector. We ratify our commitment to contribute to the economic reactivation to improve the quality of life of the Bolivian family,” he said.

According to the state oil company, these revenues come from the commercialization of natural gas and the conquest of new foreign markets for finished products such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and urea, a fertilizer that reaches Brazil, Argentina, Peru, and Paraguay.
