Babcock will present the Arrowhead 140 frigate at the Chilean Exponaval exhibition

Babcock International will present the Arrowhead 140 frigate at the XII International Naval and Maritime Exhibition and Conference for Latin America, Exponaval 2022, to be held at the Puerto Valparaiso Passenger Terminal between November 29 and December 2, 2022, in Chile.

Exponaval is a meeting point that has brought Latin American navies and exhibitors from Chile’s global defense and maritime industry since 1998.

Organized by Fisa, a company of the French group GL Events, the show allows visitors to learn about the latest innovations and technological solutions in these fields.

According to Exponaval’s news portal, the British company, a leading provider of critical complex engineering services for the defense and civilian world, will promote the features of this vessel that is the basis for the five Type 31 (Inspiration Class) frigates ordered by the British Government in 2019 for the Royal Navy.

LOCAL CONSTRUCTION

The Arrowhead 140 is a general-purpose vessel developed from the Danish frigate Iver Huitfeldt and her design allows her to adapt to the specific operational requirements of any Navy. It is 138.7 m in length and has a displacement of 5,700 t.

This unit can be configured for maritime surveillance and interdiction, anti-piracy, humanitarian aid, disaster relief, unit escort, and anti-surface, anti-aircraft, and anti-submarine warfare missions.

Babcock offers support to build these types of units in the countries that require them, providing the necessary technical support to local shipyards. The Arrowhead 140 has been chosen by Indonesia and Poland, which have ordered two and three vessels, respectively.

The company will also participate in the “Challenges of Shipbuilding and its Contribution to the National Industry” workshop held on December 1.

Astilleros y Maestranzas de la Armada (Asmar) and Naval Group have so far confirmed their participation in this Exponaval activity.
