JetSmart Peru airline started domestic flights

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The dynamic Peruvian air commercial market is on the move again with the arrival of a new domestic carrier to join the existing airlines: LATAM Peru, Sky Airline Peru, ATSA Peru, Viva Peru, and Star Peru.

We are talking about JetSmart Peru, the newest competitor in this important market that moves one of the main numbers of annual travelers in the region.

JETSMART PERU STARTED FLIGHTS

After going through the respective certification process before the Peruvian authorities, on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at just after 11:00 AM, JetSmart’s first regular domestic flight with its subsidiary in Peru took off from the expanding Lima International Airport.

The first flight was made by one of the two Airbus A320neo that the airline had based in Lima for the start of operations, named Captain FAP José A. Quiñones G, a Peruvian national hero for his combat actions during the 1941 border conflict with Ecuador.

By early August, the airline will be operating the following routes:

  • Lima – Cusco
  • Lima – Iquitos
  • Lima – Cajamarca
  • Lima – Arequipa
  • Lima – Juliaca
  • Lima – Piura
  • Lima – Tarapoto
  • Lima – Trujillo
  • Lima – Tarapoto
  • Arequipa – Cusco
  • Arequipa – Tarapoto
  • Arequipa – Trujillo
  • Piura – Arequipa

There are 13 initial domestic routes, of which 4 are interregional routes, which will increase air connectivity and boost tourism with flights that do not pass through Lima.

During the inaugural event, representatives of the airline indicated the objective of closing 2022 with a fleet of 5 aircraft, and by 2023 at least nine aircraft are projected, subject to the evolution of demand and business opportunities.
