Uruguay has exported almost 20% more beef in 2022

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The latest data provided by INAC show, between January and May, a 19.2% growth in beef exports in 2022 for Uruguay, totaling 229,105 t. The percentage increase is somewhat lower than in 2021.

The total value of exports is US$1.2 billion and is already 55.5% higher than in 2021.

China, with 151,751 t, is the main buyer of Uruguayan beef, which is already 37.1% more. The relaxation of restrictions by covid-19 has led to the EU importing 10.8% more, reaching 17,253 t.

On the other hand, the slaughter level in Uruguayan slaughterhouses continues to grow and already reaches 1.11 million head of beef, 13.4% more than in 2021.
