Inflation in Paraguay was 0.2% in May

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On June 2, the issuing bank informed that inflation in Paraguay was 0.2 % in May, compared to 0.6% recorded in the same month of 2021.

According to the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP), accumulated inflation thus stood at 5.4%, above the 1.1% that this index reached in the same period last year.

At the same time, inter-annual inflation (May 2021-May 2022) reached 11.4%, higher than the 3.7% in the same month last year.

The issuer pointed out that last May, the increases in the prices of services, some non-food goods, and fuels stood out.

Specifically, there were increases in housing rent, home equipment repair, pay-TV services, mobile telephony, and personal care, among others.

On the other hand, there was a “slight decrease in food goods”, mainly in the price of beef and pork.

However, the cost of flour and fats increased, which impacted bakery products.

Fabrics, clothing, and clothing accessories also rose, which the BCP related to the “beginning of the autumn-winter season” in the country.
