Brazil elections 2022: With support from Lula da Silva and Bolsonaro, Haddad and Freitas lead in São Paulo

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The former mayor of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad (Workers’ Party – PT), leads all scenarios of the electoral race for the state government, revealed the institute Paraná Pesquisas on May 2.

According to the survey, the PT candidate reaches 29.7% of voting intentions in the main scenario. In the sequence, Márcio França (PSB), with 18.6%, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos), with 15.2%, and Rodrigo Garcia (PSDB), with 5.6%.

In a smaller scenario, with only the top four candidates, Haddad reaches 30.3% against 19.2% for França, 15.7% for Freitas, and 6.5% for Garcia.

Paraná Pesquisas interviewed 1,820 voters in 78 municipalities between April 24 and 29. The confidence level is 95%, and the estimated margin of error is approximately 2.3% for the overall results.

SUPPORT FROM THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES

Haddad’s leadership is also consolidated when presented alongside former president Lula da Silva (PT). According to the survey, the former mayor has 31.6% with his support.

On the other hand, Tarcisio de Freitas reaches 30.1% when presented alongside President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

The research released on April 30 showed that the PT candidate and the former captain are technically tied in São Paulo. Bolsonaro has 35.8% of voting intentions among São Paulo voters, compared to Lula’s 34.9%.
