Paraguay: Total exports reached US$2.9 billion in March

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Paraguay’s total exports as of March 2022 reached a value of US$2.9 billion, 3.4% lower than the US$3.1 billion as of March of the previous year, according to the report released by the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP).

Exports accounted for 71.6% of the total, US$2.1 billion, 6.5% lower than the accumulated value as of March 2021. Re-exports, meanwhile, with 24.6% of the total, had a value of US$734 million, an increase of 21.9%.

The remaining 3.8% share corresponded to other exports, which registered US$114 million, 43.3% lower than the accumulated value as of March of the previous year. The reduction observed in shipments abroad is mainly explained by lower soybeans, corn, and electric power shipments.

Imports accounted for 95.9% of the total, with a value of US$3.3 million, 28.3% higher than March 2021, while other imports accounted for the remaining 4.1%, for US$140 million. In volumes, the increase was 1.7%.

As of March 2022, total imports reached US$3.4 million, 27.2% higher than in the same period of the previous year.

Imports accounted for 95.9% of the total, with a value of US$3.3 million, 28.3% higher than March 2021, while other imports accounted for the remaining 4.1%, for US$140 million. In volumes, the increase was 1.7%.

Finally, the trade balance as of March 2022 recorded a deficit of US$451 million, higher by US$841 million compared to the deficit recorded in the same period of 2021.
