Brazil inflation accelerates in the 7 capitals surveyed by FGV at the end of March

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The acceleration of inflation, measured by the weekly consumer price index (IPC-S), to 1.35% at the end of March, from 0.94% in the third week of the month, was confirmed in the seven capitals surveyed, the Brazilian Economic Institute of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV Ibre) said in a report.

The cities where FGV collects – and where there was a higher increase in prices, a turn to inflation, or a smaller decrease compared to the immediately previous measurement – are Salvador (0.85% to 1.29%), Brasília (0.64% to 1.28%), Belo Horizonte (1.08% to 1.36%), Recife (1.21% to 1.63%), Rio de Janeiro (1.05% to 1.46%), Porto Alegre (0.94% to 1.45%), and São Paulo (0.93% to 1.23%).

The next IPC-S survey, referring to the first forecast for April, will be published on April 8, and the regional segmentation on April 11.
