RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship, Santiago Cafiero, highlighted this Friday in Tucumán that “Argentina exported 11.9 billion dollars in January and February, a record figure” and affirmed that in the constant work with exports it is possible to “finance the growth of our country”.

The Chancellor traveled to Tucumán together with Juan Manzur, national cabinet chief and governor on leave of that province to participate in a meeting with producers and local authorities.

“We exported 11.9 billion dollars in two months, it is a record figure, which is coupled with the visible drop in unemployment and the increase in economic activity in the country”, said Cafiero in a press conference at the Government House of Tucumán.

The national official indicated that the National Government “is working with all the exporting chambers and if we continue with exports, we can finance the growth of our country”.

“President Alberto Fernández has put Argentina on that path of recovery and we have to continue there”, said the Chancellor.

Regarding Tucumán, Cafiero stated: “we have been accompanying the development model that the province is carrying out, which started some time ago and now has continuity. This is essential for it to continue advancing in two directions: to improve the life of its citizens and, at the same time, to project all its productive and exporting potential”.

THE EFFECTS OF THE CONFLICT IN UKRAINE

Asked about the war conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the possible effects it may have on the Argentine economy, Cafiero said that at the national level “we are making an integral approach to the exports made in the conflict zones”.

“We are working together with the companies, looking at each of the particularities that are arising, in order to set up contingency programs so that Argentine products continue to increase the export offer”, said Cafiero.

The Chancellor also stated that “war, from the humanitarian point of view, is repudiable” and remarked that “with Juan Manzur we have condemned on several occasions Russia’s invasion of Ukraine”.

“At a time of post-pandemic and situations aggravated by Covid, to have this war in the heart of Europe is of a level of senselessness and incoherence with what the world was demanding”, he concluded.

Cafiero and Manzur shared with Governor Osvaldo Jaldo a meeting with local producers in the city of Tafí Viejo and then they will participate in an act in the Partido Justicialista of the province.
