RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A special phenomenon darkened the day in areas of Paraguay and Argentina. It was apparently a huge, kilometer-long dust cloud that passed through the area due to strong winds. At least that is the official explanation.
The situation occurred this Monday, and several users uploaded their footage to social networks. The image is shocking: a huge, kilometer-long block of earth and dust that began to move over populated areas.

The cities of Ayolas in southern Paraguay and northern Argentina, in the province of Misiones and around the Paraná River, were particularly affected.
According to the National Meteorological Service of Argentina, these are “large clouds of earth and ash due to the increase in wind intensity.”

In this regard, it is noted that the phenomenon can affect visibility while driving “a few meters”.
The Paraguayan media also picked up on the situation, assuring that people in the Ayolas area got “a big scare” in the middle of the vacations on the beaches of the region.
