RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Chinese technological giant Xiaomi will start manufacturing its smartphones in Tierra del Fuego, representing a millionaire investment for the Argentine Republic.

During President Alberto Fernández’s tour in Russia, China, and Barbados, Argentine government sources confirmed the news.
Etercor, an Argentine company in charge of Xiaomi as a distributor, has a factory in Tierra del Fuego (owned by Solnik), with all the necessary industrial equipment to manufacture Xiaomi devices in Argentina.
Xiaomi will make its official announcement in 60 days. However, a member of the entourage accompanying President Alberto Fernández said that Xiaomi’s arrival in Tierra del Fuego “is already a fact”.
