RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – ANATEL on Monday, January 31, approved the sale of Oi SA’s mobile operations to local rivals TIM SA, Telefonica Brazil’s Vivo and Claro, a subsidiary of Mexico’s America Movil.
The decision was expected on Friday, but was postponed after one of the regulator’s board members asked for more time to analyze the matter.
The companies won the assets in a 2020 auction with a combined bid of R$16.5 (US$3.11) billion.
