President Mario Abdo: “We want Paraguay to reduce its unemployment rate”

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – “There is still much to do, we want Paraguay to continue lowering its unemployment rate and strengthening public policies that enable building a greater interaction between training and what the labor market needs,” Mario Abdo said. Based on this, his government wants to strengthen the country’s human capital.

The President yesterday visited the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security (MTESS), to review the main initiatives promoted to boost economic recovery. He highlighted the efforts made to assist formal workers when they faced difficult times during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He also reaffirmed the need not only to talk about the demographic bonus, because there are many interesting programs being implemented by the Ministry of Labor to address unemployment and develop skills for the current requirements to enter the market.

Currently, the international pandemic scenario places Paraguay as the second country in Latin America with the lowest unemployment rate, after Ecuador. The unemployment rate stands at 6.5%, and the goal is to reach a lower rate.
