Paraguay: Exports within MERCOSUR reach 62%

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Data from the Undersecretary of Economy’s Directorate of Integration reflect the progress from January through November 2021, compared to the same period in 2020. Likewise, MERCOSUR was the main source of imports, reaching 34.4% of the total.

Recorded exports totaled US$9.877 billion, 26% more than shipments recorded through November 2020. Including reexports and other exports, year-on-year growth of total exported goods reached 24.9%.

Recorded imports totaled US$12.183 billion (CIF), 32.9% more than through November 2020. Considering imports (FOB) and including other imports, the year-on-year increase in total imported goods reached 30.2%.

Regarding the export items with the highest incidence, in the period from January through November 2020 and this year, oilseeds and beef products stand out, due to the increases in shipments of soybean (40.3%) and beef (45.4%), achieving a higher positive share, while the item with the greatest negative impact was electric energy, down 8.9% over the same period the previous year.

As for imports, chemicals, rubber, plastics, as well as machinery and equipment were the items with the greatest impact on the increase in imports. Their positive variations reached 33.5% and 43.4%, respectively.
