RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Deutsche Bank said Wednesday that it expected Chile, Colombia, and Peru to again likely outperform the rest of the Latin American region in terms of economic growth by 2022.
While the three Andean economies also faced inflationary pressures, they were either much milder (in the cases of Colombia and Peru) or had been met with decisive central bank action (in the case of Chile, BCCh), Deutsche Bank said.
The bank estimates that macroeconomic imbalances in Peru and Chile will narrow next year.
While Colombia’s chronic twin deficit problem was a concern, the Andean economies were facing the most complicated political challenges within Latin America in Deutsche Bank’s view.
According to the Bank, the resolution of these “events” (including the conclusion of the constitutional rewrite in Chile, elections in Colombia, and questions about President Castillo’s government) will be critical determinants of these countries’ future growth prospects.
